Cooking is a life skill that every youth should have the opportunity to develop. Kids in the Kitchen is a youth program that is designed to teach basic cooking and kitchen skills.
Pizza & Pepperoni Roll Class
Ages 8-14 Instructor Melissa from Midge's Kitchen
Participants will learn the basics of stretching homemade dough, making pesto using local herbs, and chopping skills for toppings from local farms. At the end of class, children will bake their pizza & pepperoni rolls for lunch and be able to take home leftover pizza and pepperoni rolls.
Homemade Ice Cream & Sundae Class
Ages 8-14 Instructor Melissa from Midge's Kitchen
In this class, we'll learn how to to make ice cream from scratch! This is an ice cream recipe containing dairy. We'll learn how to measure ingredients and use a few different types of ice cream machines to make the final product. Everyone will be able to then help themselves to some ice cream with a variety of toppings to make sundaes including fresh local fruit and fresh whipped cream.
Snack Time Class
Ages 8-14 Instructor Melissa from Midge's Kitchen
Participants will learn how to make easy snacks that kids can make at home without using the oven or stove top. We'll be making pinwheel wraps, no-bake cookies (containing peanut butter), antipasto skewers, and fruit skewers.
Basic Culinary Skills Class
Ages 12-16 Instructor Melissa from Midge's Kitchen
Participants will learn how to cut vegetables, read a recipe, and use basic kitchen tools. We will be making pinwheel wraps, no-bake cookies (containing peanut butter), and baked oven "fries".
